Various – Cameroon Garage Funk (1964 – 1979)

Excellent release from Analog Africa label. The story behind these recordings is interesting: in the 1970’s era, Cameroon had a lot of musicians but little recording opportunities. A church engineer who had the equipment for the congregation decided to trade recording time in the church during off hours for some cash and thus these recordings were put on tape. The tracks are a variety of rhythmic African style music and some James Brown influenced funk. You can imagine what would have happened if the church elders had visited the church while one of these sessions was going down. Recommended for those who enjoy African music and/or JB style funk.
